05:40 pm - Introduction So, you’re read Normal Teenager Goes to Magical High School in Magic World that is Metaphor for Real World story #472? You want a change from stories where vampires represent goths, trolls are jocks and being a werewolf is a thin metaphor for sexual repression/puberty/periods?
Phantasia can give you that. Sort of.
This time, it’s the turn for a magical creature to try and live in our world. Only it’s our world in a thousand year’s time. A world where the usual teenage subcultures don’t just mock each other, they would quite happily kill one another. A world were cities such as London, New York, Tokyo and Paris are underground, covered by mountainous megacites. A world where climate change has shifted the locations of rain forests and seas, where cracked wastelands are prowled by Jungian shadows and people consumed by their id.
Phantasia Celeste is an outcast, who has spent her life living in an ethereal world of flying islands and pretty people with soul-wings. She’s not like the rest of her kind though – she’s different, she’s an albino – and so, to find herself, she ends up in the human world, living among teenagers. Drugs are commonplace, sex is uninhibited and anyone over 40 is considered an OAP.
Phantasia is an innocent, naive girl who wants to be everyone’s friend, and wants everyone to be friends. She’s caught in the middle of subcultures and cults; her teachers range from alcoholic scholars to strict samurai and pyromaniac alchemists; and humans, faeries and demons alike are trying to save or destroy a world on the brink of oblivion.
Phantasia Celeste: harbinger of hope, or a devil of destruction? One thing is always certain: nothing is ever what you expect…;
This journal is designed to compliment the Phantasia website. Should make it easier for those of you with LJs to follow the story :) ( Contents ) Current Mood: creative
